Lernstift is a new pen invented by the founder of Lernstift Falk Wolsky, that lets you know when you have made a error while writing. He invented this pen after his wife expressed  that she wish a pen could give feedback when mistakes are made while writing,  while watching their son do homework. 

Lernstift, a German word that means "learning pen" , is a different kind of pen unlike your every day pen,  that alerts you by vibrating when you misspell a word while you’re writing. It’s built with a scaled down Linux operating system, which includes built in Wi-Fi so that you can connect it to your computer or smartphone, and of course  ink.

It has features that  allow you to upload text online and share them with your social networks. This pen recognizes writing movements and tracks the shapes and styles of letters. It has regular writing mode (orthography) that alerts you when a word is misspelled, and calligraphy mode that detects individual characters.

While writing with the Lernstift, when a mistake is made, it vibrates to make you aware of it. This is not the first digital pen, but  it is the first pen that can detect the users writing errors in this fashion. The Linux system processor that it has is like the scaled down version of the Linux Operating System installed on a PC.

Technology

The components of it contain a motion sensor that is non-optical, a vibration module, a memory chip, a processor,  and Wi-Fi. The Lernstift has the ability to recognize writing movements even if it’s done in the air. Other features of the Lernstift pen includes its refill  that can be replaced to turn the pen into a pencil, fountain pen, or ballpoint pen; it also runs on a AAA battery.

This pen is an awesome addition to the world of writing utensils, and will be a definite asset when helping kids learn spelling.
